NFLS will maintain a continuing education (CE) account during 2008: */** Refers to consolidated library service counties. The local librarians will decide how these funds are allocated for their respective counties each year.

Continuing Education funds are available to all library staff to attend continuing education opportunities. For 2008, the System will provide one CE allocation account for each main library. The amount each county receives for national conferences has been added to the general CE allocation account. This will allow libraries the flexibility to use CE funds to attend national and state conferences, take web-based training, on-line courses relevant to library work, etc. Funds may also be used to cover mileage to attend NFLS sponsored workshops and training events.

The NFLS System Business Manager is available to consult with libraries regarding travel planning. Continuing Education Funds will be paid on a reimbursable basis. The System prefers to advance or reimburse the library directly as opposed to individual staff.
These CE activities are not eligible for CE allocation funds:
Participation on committees or course work leading to a degree.

A statement of your library's CE account balance will be e-mailed to you in June and October. Funds not used in one calendar year cannot be carried over to the following year.
