Friends of the Library

November 2004
President ~ Dennis Strey
Vice-President ~ Wendy Wimberger
Secretary ~ Patty Earnest
Treasurer ~ Jane Lapacz
Board Representative ~ Phyllis Edge

I have succeeded Barb Konopacky, an exceptional supporter of the Lakes Country Library. We all thank her for her leadership and work with the Friends Group. She has helped my transition immeasurably and continues to make the library a community service that we all can be proud of today.

We thank Janie and Stan Lapacz for doing a splendid job in planting and maintaining the flower bed and shrubbery on the library grounds. Also, we thank Marilyn's Greenhouse for her generous donation of flowers for the planting beds.

The Friends of the Library FALL CRAFT SALE is scheduled for November 27, 2004 from 9am-3pm at the Townsend, Lakewood and Mountain town halls. Jodi Sellhausen is coordinator for this community event.

You'll find great gifts and seasonal decorations at all three locations. Food and beverages will also be sold at each sale site. Hosts at each town hall are: Townsend-Stan and Janie Lapacz; Lakewood-Patty Earnest and Marian Hickinbotham; Mountain-Barbara Konopacky.

On October 12, 2004 the McCaslin Lions presented a check for $1,000 to Dennis Strey, President of the Friends of Lakes Country Library for support of library programs and services. We thank the McCaslin Lions for their help and contribution to a very worthy purpose.

An OPEN HOUSE and BOOK SALE will be held at the Lakes Country Library on November 27, 2004 from 9am to 2pm. This is an opportunity for book bargains for gifts and building your personal library.

Friends of the Library need your ideas, energy and support for fund raising ideas/activities. Forms to apply for membership are available at the main desk of the library-please ask for one the next time you visit the library.

This past year the Friends purchased an LCD projector ($1490) for use in library programs and made a $1,000 contribution to the library Endowment fund. This fund will accept donations from anyone wishing to make a long term impact on the library programs. Only the interest from the endowment fund will be used to fund library needs.

Dennis Strey, President
