Dear Friends of the Library,

November is a busy month for Friends of the Library.

BAKE SALE & RAFFLE
We are sponsoring a Bake Sale at Lakewood Super Valu on Friday the 18th from 9:00am until 4:00pm. Irene Herron-Steeger (276-1347) is coordinator for this event. Please call her if you can contribute baked goods or help with this event. In addition, raffle tickets for a beautiful quilt will be sold during the bake sale. We will have the quilt on display near the bake sale table. The drawing for the quilt will be held on Saturday, November 26th at 1:00pm at the Lakes Country Library.

CRAFT SHOW/SALE
Our biggest event is the Friends of the Library craft show/sale held at the town halls of Townsend, Lakewood, Riverview and Mountain Community Building on Saturday the 26th from 9:30am until 3:00pm. Jodi Sellhausen (276-1518) is the Friends Coordinator for the craft event. If you would like to help, call Jodi to make arrangements. We're very pleased to have the Riverview town hall fully booked by Crafters for this year's show.

BOOK SALE & OPEN HOUSE
Also on Saturday the 26th, a book sale and open house will be conducted at the Lakes Country Library from 9:30 to 2:00pm. We need children books for this sale if you have some to donate to the Friends. Raffle tickets will be available for sale during the open house. We need volunteers to help with the book sale.

If you can help, come to the Library conference room during the book sale

SUMMER BRAT SALE
Friends sponsored a Brat Sale at Lakewood SuperValu on June 11th. We earned $295 for the Friends projects. Next year two Brat sales are planned for May 27th and June 17th.

MORE NEW BOOKCASES
Four additional bookcases from Lakewood Kitchens for the library meeting room were approved by the Library Board. It is expected that the bookcases will be installed in early December. Also, shelves in the first four bookcases, which were purchased with McCaslin Lions and Friends funds, will be replaced under warranty because they bowed under weight of the books.

RAIN GUTTERS
In response to a request from the Library Board, Friends are having rain gutters installed on the Library. Soon, we can use the sidewalk from the parking lot without walking through run off from the roof.

ANNUAL MEETING 2006
Our annual meeting will be held on June 6, 2006. Mark your calendar and plan to join us. More details will be provided later.

SPECIAL THANKS
Janie and Stan La Pacz did fantastic job of planting and maintaining the beautiful flowers and shrubs. The flowers were donated to the library by Marilyn's Greenhouse.

Lakes Country Public Library

Many new exhibitors will be featured at each location, selling holiday crafts, gift items, and seasonal decorations! This year's premier location, the Riverview Town Hall, will feature the artistry of Jeanne Dahlke. Jeanne raises angora rabbits whose wool she uses to spin her own yarn. She then extracts her own natural dyes to color her yarns which she knits or weaves into one-of-a-kind products. Stop in at the Riverview location to shop, grab a warm lunch or cold soda, see Jeanne's spinning demonstration, and then drive on to any of our other three locations. Register at each location for one of FOUR door prizes - beautiful gift baskets with an assortment of hand-crafted items.

New Children's Area Rug

Pam recently attended the Wisconsin Library Association Convention in LaCrosse. She won the drawing for the beautiful carpet (pictured above) donated by the Highsmith Company.

Book Discussion Group

The ladies meet the first Thursday of the month at 11:00 at the library. The group is always looking for new members. The December 1, 2005, selection is a Christmas or holiday title of the reader's choice. Members will choose their own titles to report on for the January 5, 2006 meeting.

Story Time At the Library!

Annette is looking for more children aged 3, 4 or 5 to attend story time. It is being held Thursdays form 10:00 to 10:45. If you know someone this age…spread the word.
