Baked
Goods For Books
A fundraiser
for the Lakes Country Public Library will be held at the Lakewood
Super Valu on Friday, November 17, from 9am to about 4pm. BAKED
GOODS of all varieties will be available for purchase just in
time for deer camp or for a snack on the go!
Funds
raised from this bake sale will be matched on a 2-to-1 ratio
by the Libri Foundation's BOOKS FOR CHILDREN program. Through
this program, the library can receive up to $1,050 worth of
new, quality, hardcover children's books to add to its shelves.
Your
$5 purchase of delicious baked goods will yield $15 worth of
children's books for the Lakes Country Public Library. (Likewise,
a $10 purchase would result in $30 worth of new books.) It's
a WIN-WIN situation: satisfy your sweet tooth and support your
local library! So mark your calendars - and come early for the
best selection of delicacies!
(This
fundraiser is sponsored by the Friends of the Lakes Country
Public Library.)
First
Summer Internship is a Success
The
Friends sponsored the Lakes Country Public Library's first summer
internship. Local student Miranda Ehlinger worked at the library
this past summer. She was a great help with our Summer Program,
front-desk duties and many other projects. Miranda learned many
things about how the library is run and got a chance to brush
up on her computer skills. The Friends hope to run the summer
internship program for years to come. We'll be taking applications
for next summer's position, to be filled by an area high school
student, in the spring.
