About the PositionThe Assistant Director, under the general direction of the System Director, will help administer system services to member libraries, library directors, library staff, and board trustees. The Assistant Director will work directly with the system board to support its operations and provide ongoing professional development training for trustees. The Assistant Director will also assist, administer, plan, and evaluate consultation services provided to member libraries. This role requires strong leadership skills, a collaborative spirit, and a commitment to continually improving system services in an ever-changing library environment. This is a full-time position at the system office in Green Bay, WI. In-office hours are flexible, and telecommuting is available several days a week. Semi-regular travel to member library locations within Northeast Wisconsin, statewide meetings or conferences is required, with an occasional overnight. Subscribe to Newsletters from NFLS Gillett Public Library hosted another successful National Night Out, raising over $750 for the Gillett Fire Department.
Multiple community organizations contributed to the event, including the Gillett Women’s Club, which held a Bake Sale; Gillett VFW Post 8314, which made ice cream sundaes; and the Gillett Area Chamber of Commerce, which organized a cookout fundraiser. Local restaurants offered a variety of choices including La Mexicana and OJ’s Midtown. American Legion Post 300, Gillett Police Department, Oconto County Family Services, and the Marinette and Oconto Literacy Council staffed informational tables. Local band Homegrown entertained the crowd with classic rock tunes. The Tattooed Mannequin provided face painting for the crowd. Gillett Public Library Board members staffed a raffle table with a variety of prizes. Tanya Dittman made balloon animals for the kids. Saputo Cheese provided over 1,000 pounds of cheese for the event. Steve Frederick provided a trailer to take people to Zippel Park, where Eagle III landed. We would like to welcome Vanja Anderson as the new director at the Marinette County Consolidated Public Library Service. Vanja brings over 20 years of library experience, including 12 years with a master's degree. Her background spans public, academic, and museum libraries, but she has found her passion in the community aspect of public libraries. Most recently, she has served as a director in Nevada for just over two years. On a personal note, Vanja enjoys being a homebody, watching Star Trek with her cats, attempting to improve her gardening skills, and writing her bios in the third person.
