The Lena Public Library is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Library Assistant to join its team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about community engagement and outreach, while also being adept at handling the day-to-day operations of the library. Key Responsibilities:

• Community Engagement and Outreach:
  • Develop and implement programs and events to engage the community and promote library services.
  • Collaborate with local organizations, schools, and community groups to build partnerships and expand outreach efforts.
  • Conduct presentations and workshops to raise awareness about library resources and services.
• Library Operations:
  • Assist patrons with locating materials, using library resources, and answering reference questions.
  • Perform circulation duties, including checking in and out materials, managing holds, and processing new items.
  • Maintain the organization and cleanliness of library spaces, including shelving books and managing displays.
  • Assist with cataloging and processing new materials as needed.
• Team Collaboration:
  • Work closely with other library staff to ensure smooth daily operations and provide excellent customer service.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
  • Contribute to the planning and execution of library programs and events.
  • Provide support for special projects and initiatives as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor degree preferred.
• Previous experience in a library preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proficiency with computers and digital tools, including social media platforms.
• A passion for community engagement and a commitment to promoting literacy and learning.
