There's still time to register: you have two opportunities to attend our Youth Services and SLP 2020 workshop!
Schedule for each day:
9:30 – 10am — light refreshments, and vote for Table Topics
10 - 11:45am — Keynote presentation by Dennis Rockhill. A makerspace is an active and engaged place where elements of art, science, craft, engineering, theater, shop, and music intersect. In your library and community, they provide a “third place” option beyond the coffee shop. But their long-term relevance is an important question to consider. Is it a place of learning? What kind of learning is happening?
After attending this hands-on session, you'll return to your library with new ideas to incorporate simple STEAM learning challenges into activities you already provide for children and families, this summer and year-round.
Noon - 12:45pm — lunch and Table Topics discussions
1 - 3:45pm — Three 45-minute breakout sessions. Choose from engaging topics like program ideas for the SLP theme "Imagine Your Story" for children and teens, finding & marketing to the kids who need your programs, family science nights, parent education, collaboration & community partners, Einstein Project maker kits, and passive programs that fit the SLP theme.
Continuing education contact hours for the full day: 6
This workshop is sponsored by the Northeastern Wisconsin (NEWI) continuing education partnership – Manitowoc-Calumet Library System, Nicolet Federated Library System, Outagamie-Waupaca Library System, and Winnefox Library System.
