Speaker Bio
For nearly three decades Chad Lewis has traveled the back roads of the world in search of the strange and unusual. From tracking Vampires in Transylvania and searching for the elusive monster of Loch Ness to trailing the dangerous Tata Duende through remote villages of Belize and searching for ghosts in Ireland's castles, Chad has scoured the earth in search of the paranormal.

Chad has been featured on the Discovery Channel's A Haunting, William Shatner's Weird or What, ABC's World's Scariest Places, Monsters and Mysteries in America, along with being a frequent contributor to Ripley's Believe it or Not Radio. With a Master's Degree in Psychology, Chad has authored over 25 books on the supernatural and extensively lectures on his fascinating findings. The more the bizarre the legend is, the more likely you will find Chad there!

**Virtual Openings for Fall & Winter**

"Due to the rise in Delta and winter driving conditions, many libraries have been asking for virtual options for their Fall & Winter programming.

With this, in addition to my in-person programs I have converted all my presentations to include a virtual option through Zoom, Skype, Facebook Live, Blue Jeans, etc...... or even a pre-recorded version as well.

Many libraries are even taping the live video to make it accessible through their websites for those who couldn't attend the live broadcast and a pre-recorded option is available as well.

I have included all the info for you below---just let me know what you pick.

It is great to know that even in these strange times people still crave storytelling.

Keep an eye out,
Chad Lewis

Fall 2021 Ghost Programs with Curt Strutz

8/2/2021

An interactive paranormal presentation? Visiting the beyond.
Are you and your patrons still looking for that perfect paranormal/ghost program at the library this fall?  Something that would be educational, entertaining, and even infused with humor an fun (without being too deep into occult or questionable material)? My "Visiting the Beyond" paranormal program could be just the fit your library needs - and at a fair price!

My name is Curt Strutz, and I am a self-proclaimed "Paranormal Explorer." I tour and visit some of the country's most notorious haunted locations and experience them - with personal happenings, history, and original photography. I bring all of this original content to libraries and museums across the country - and already have a semi-full fall schedule at this point in time (with live and in-person lectures in WI, FL, IA, and AL already booked in 2021).

My presentations are loved by those into the paranormal, but also are great for those into both history and photography.

I am pleased to announce that I do have a handful of solid/great dates that can still be booked for this September and October that will work for WI libraries - given the fact I do reside right here in the state!  While the majority of the bottom half of October being booked, there are still quite a few solid dates open for the top half of the month. We could still make it happen for your library!

I have been scheduling lectures on the paranormal for nearly 10 years - speaking at libraries all over the country, as well as museums, special events, and even some paranormal conferences down in Illinois a few years back. I was also a featured cast member of a nationally syndicated cable access TV show called "Paranormal Generation." This show aired on cable access channels across the country, from Lancaster, CA to Philadelphia, PA!  The show ran for two seasons/years, and all back episodes are still available to view on YouTube!

Stealing Away: Stories (by Wisconsin author Kevin Revolinski)

4/27/2021

The following information comes from Wisconsin author Kevin Revolinski's newsletter, The Mad Traveler.

My name is Kevin Revolinski and I am the author of a number of popular Wisconsin travel, outdoor, and brewery guidebooks. I wanted to alert my home-state libraries to my newest book: Stealing Away: Stories. I have included author and reader reviews of it below.

Needless to say 2020 was a challenging year, and to deal with restricted travel opportunities, I focused on completing this collection of 12 literary-fiction short stories. I published several of them in literary journals over the years, and wrote the final stories in 2020. The book was published by Back Burner Books in January 2021 and has received praises from bestselling Midwestern-oriented authors Nickolas Butler and J. Ryan Stradal. I ask that you might consider getting it for your library.

As in the past, I am available for library events, book clubs, and presentations (on Zoom and eventually in-person again). While my primary focus right now is on my short stories collection and the fiction writing process, I am also still available for presentations about Wisconsin hiking, camping, paddling, road-trips and my overseas travel experiences as The Mad Traveler. (Some of those travels have influenced the settings of several of the short stories.)

I hope you will consider my new book. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you might have about any of my books or events. Thank you so much for your time and consideration. (Reviews below!)

Kind regards,

Kevin Revolinski

“It was the summer before senior year when Danny and I decided the adults in our lives had irredeemably failed us, and so we hit the road.”

A girl pins her hopes on her boyfriend’s illegal scheme to run away from a dead-end, small-town life. Two orphans find meaning in a discarded canteen and the death of a stray dog in the Mexican desert. Obsessed with a local murder story, an accountant imagines the crime and questions her marriage. Heartbroken and unhinged, a delirious traveler crosses borders in the Middle East. A cynical backpacker tests his moral resolve in South America. Haunted by a childhood tragedy, a man returns to his small-town neighborhood for answers. The characters in these thoughtful twelve stories struggle to find purpose and choose between escape and making peace with their lots.

Looking to add a spark to your “Tails & Tales” line-up? Sharon Page and the Circus Dogs are national-award-winning performers based right here in Wisconsin!

They’ve retired from live shows, but spent the past four months filming and editing a 48-minute video called “ABC CIRCUS”—the culmination of 25-years performing with animals. This was a labor of love for the 2021 Summer Reading Program theme “Tails & Tales” that will never be repeated!

From inspiring to laugh-out-loud funny, the fourteen mini-chapters feature topics ranging from “a puppy’s life in Istanbul” to “dealing with sibling rivalry.” Along the way, their performing dogs and cat showcase over 80 Awwwww-inspiring tricks.

Already have live performers booked? Stream “ABC CIRCUS” ahead of the Summer Reading Program as an incentive for families to sign up! There’s even an option to add a “live” Zoom meet & greet with Sharon and all three pets.

"My name is Yasu Ishida and I am a library performer living in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Before the Covid time, I perform 80-90 library shows a year, in south eastern states (SC, NC, GA, FL, AL, TN).

First of all, thank you so much for everything you do for the community in this tough time. I feel like libraries are needed more than ever.

Last year, I worked with more than 55 libraries in 12 states around the country providing virtual SRP shows.

I would love to bring it to your library this year, if you are
thinking of doing virtual shows. This is a little preview of the program.

I incorporate Japanese folktales with origami, and magic tricks. It goes with this year’s library theme “Tails and Tales”. It is a 35-40 minutes program targeting family audiences. And I can do any virtual formats your library likes. (e.g. Live streaming on your FB page, pre-recording, or zoom workshop etc.) I also offer a virtual hands-on origami workshop for teens or adults too.

Please take a look and please let me know if we can work together for the community this summer.

Please stay safe,

On-Line Music Programs for Your Library Community!

11/17/2020

smiling man holding guitar outdoors
Dear Library Staff,

Right now, we need ways to connect, and nothing does that like music – even on-line!

My name is Dan Robinson, and I've performed music for communities of all kinds for over 25 years. I would love to share music that inspires and brings people together with your library community.

After a recent on-line performance of my program, "Touring the Badger State," Wendy Rosenow at the Shawano County Library wrote:

“Dan transported us around our state from lakes to rivers and towns in between. He beautifully chose music from many artists to portray his stories. Humorous and poignant snippets of Wisconsin lore and history was relayed to our viewers in a one-hour concert that flew by!”

If you’re interested in talking with me about a performance, please click the link below, which will take you to my website where you'll find information on a variety of programs I offer, including the “Touring the Badger State” performance mentioned above. Or you can email me at dan@notesbydan.com with any questions you might have.

I know times are tough for library budgets, so I want to make these performances as affordable as possible. My suggested costs are $65 for a 30 minute program and $90 for a 60-minute program, but let me know if that’s a financial strain and we’ll work something out.

Thanks for considering this, and I hope we get a chance to connect. Until then, stay safe!
Peace,
Dan Robinson

The following is from Dave Daniels, executive director of the non-profit, Colossal Fossils:
Brochure cover showing Orca skullClick Image Above to Download Brochure
"We are going to be “cautiously optimistic” and plan for in-person library programs while still offering online alternatives, similar to what we did this past summer.  With that said, I’m including the brochure for our 2021 Summer Reading program, “A Whale of a Tale.”

We are going to feature some very large bones from the world’s largest animals, while telling their stories and discussing their fascinating evolutionary paths.  We would be happy to put your library in our calendar and are maintaining the same pricing for the in-person programs that we have had for the last two years.  I suspect that our calendar will fill up quickly, so if you would like us to pencil you in, please let us know as soon as you can.  Also, take advantage of the 10% price reduction by scheduling a program with us before January 1st, 2021.

All the best to you.  Stay healthy, and I hope we can see each other in person this coming summer.
Dave"

Check out the latest form Mike Schneider of Pint Size Polkas:

I hope you had a great summer despite the unusual circumstances!

If you are in need of a fun off-season program any time between now and April 30, 2021, I’m offering a standardized version of my prerecorded virtual show for just $50 per library for reservations made between now and September 30, 2020! If you’d like to host a live stream or in-person event, please contact me for a free quote. My shows are filled with polka music, magic and comedy, making a great fit in September and October for Oktoberfest season; January for National Polka Month; or any time some spirit-lifting fun is in order.

If you’re looking ahead to summer 2021, I have some big excitement in store for the “Tales and Tails” reading theme. We’ll have some musical fun with Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox; talk a little bit about chickens and do the ever-popular “Chicken Dance;” and learn about Able and Baker, the first monkeys to successfully return to Earth after spaceflight. Whether you need an in-person show (inside or out) or will be going all virtual in 2021, I would be thrilled to bring some musical joy back to the good people of Green Bay! Please visit www.pintsizepolkas.com/library for details and a brief showcase video.

Would you be interested in including my Pint Size Polkas show in your 2020-21 programming plans? Please let me know at your earliest convenience.

Thank you as always for your consideration, and wishing you all the best in these turbulent times.

P.S. Check out my “Scrub, Scrub, Scrub (COVID-19 Edition)” MP3 song and music video (below).

The following information was provided to NFLS by Kevin Wood aka “Mr. Lincoln”:
"I am “Mr. Lincoln”, a professional first-person historical presenter of our nation’s 16th President based in the Chicago area, with a very strong resemblance to Mr. Lincoln and a very extensive knowledge of his life and times.

This is to let you know that I now offer programs via various forms of virtual programming (in addition to old-fashioned in-person programming!):

  •  video conferencing via Zoom;
  • live-streaming via Facebook Live or YouTube Live; and
  • pre-recorded videos available online via YouTube.

Note that when I do a “live” virtual program, I also authorize the recording of it so that it can be made available online for a period of one week; pre-recorded videos likewise may be made available for one week.
