The Public Library Development Team at the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction is producing an online, self-directed course about the role of new media (e.g., apps and tablets) in the lives of young children and their families. This course is directly based on the in-person "New Media Training" offered in March 2015. The online course focuses on the why and how of using new media in a public library setting.
We are looking for beta testers for this course. What is a beta tester? It is someone who tries out the product, and lets the creators know what works and what doesn’t. Beta testers for this project will be asked about the content; e.g., what was learned, as well as technical feedback; e.g., how the course operated.
If you are interested in beta testing, please complete this short survey. This survey is open to Wisconsin public library staff who regularly work with young children (ages 0-5). Specifically, we are looking for library staff who currently use apps and tablets as part of library programs and services AND library staff who currently DO NOT use apps and tablets.
Only 10 beta testers will be selected. Selection will take place in late August 2016, with testing to be completed in September. Beta testers will need stable access to the Internet, an iPad, and an iTunes account (personal or professional). Beta testers will need to download and purchase some apps to complete the coursework.
Beta testers will have 3-4 weeks to complete the testing. Beta testers will need to commit to a total of approximately 10 hours to complete the entire course and course feedback forms. Beta testers must have permission of their direct supervisor to complete beta testing on work time. Beta testers will not be financially compensated for their time and feedback; the benefit is purely professional learning.
Thanks for your consideration,
