Hello,

My new book, Our Disunited States of America: The Struggle Between Conservatives and Liberals), has been released. It took about three years of research and writing. I wrote this book because I was very concerned that our current level of conflict only advances Vladimir Putin's goal of weakening our nation.

Some of the information I found in my research was truly surprising and I needed to communicate it to others. What I found helped me make sense of the discord that we are now experiencing.

I was pleasantly surprised when the New York publisher, Beacon Publishing Group, grabbed it up quickly. I expect that the tumult of the upcoming election and the prospect of impeachment/removal made them believe that there was a market (both domestic and international) for this book.

In the book, I take a problem-solving approach.  I carefully examine the problem (the division, the disappearance of the center, fractured tribes and painful histories). Then, I move on to the causes (underlying causes, the role of media and overused manipulation strategies). After that, I look at the potential solutions (winner-take-all, internal realignment as well as moderating factors).

The book finishes with a letter to my granddaughters that explains how the current ruling generations (the Silent Generation and the Baby Boom) created this mess and what the new generations can do to fix it. I have also added an Appendix with a solution that will surely spark a debate among some readers.

I will be traveling and make presentations on the book in various places in the country. I'm already scheduled to speak at a number of Boston area and out-of-state libraries. I will be in your area this coming September 22-24. Please do let me know if you are interested in having me make a presentation at your library.

Take Care,
Don Jansiewicz
