Amnesty Week Offers Fine Forgiveness We are all guilty of it – library materials that we forgot to return on time or at all. Knowing life happens, Brown County Library is offering fine forgiveness during the week of November 29 – December 5, 2021. Whether overdue library items are few days late or a few years late, fines for items returned during Amnesty Week will be waived. “If having overdue items are keeping people from coming back to the library, we want to change that! This amnesty program encourages the return of library materials - no questions asked,” said Sarah Sugden, the Library’s Executive Director. Items returned must be in good, usable condition. As a convenience, items can be returned to an outdoor book drop. Fine forgiveness applies only to items returned from November 29 – December 5 and does not apply to existing fines or items borrowed through Interlibrary Loan. The Oconto Falls Library participated in the St. Anthony School and Parish Trunk or Treat "Spook"tacular on Sunday, October 31, along with the Oconto Falls Fire Department, Oconto Falls Area Ambulance Service, Oconto County Dairy Promotions, Knights of Columbus, Woller Family, Lemke Family, Sandra Wellens, St. Anthony Staff and Parish Council of Catholic Women. The library gave out over 100 books (many donated by the Oconto County Library Services Board), candy to 400 kids, and pens to adults. The weather was a little chilly and windy but fun! The Kewaunee Public Library celebrated its annual Family Fall Festival on October 21. The cold and misty day didn’t stop the fun, which was originally planned to be outside. The library moved the fun indoors while keeping patrons' safety in mind: all games and activities were well-spaced and separated by tall shelves. The festival was run all day long to avoid too many patrons at one time. It worked out well and library staff enjoyed visits from 85 patrons! In addition to the games and activities, staff bagged up cookies and edible skeletons for patrons to take home. Apple cider juice boxes and coffee were offered as well. Small pieces of candy and prizes ended the patrons' visit. Library staff received positive feedback from attendees.
