New Furniture at Florence County Library

Patrons enjoying new tables and chairs at Florence County Library
The Florence County Library was able to purchase five new tables and chairs thanks to a grant from the Nicolet Federated Library System’s 2019 Library Improvement & Innovation Grant, which funds programs in the areas of workforce development, lifelong learning, and/or technology.

The tables and chairs are in the main area of the library and look great!  The library's work force development person,  Zana, is even in one of the photos (left). Public patrons, students and a wide range of other folks also utilize them.  They are on locking wheels so we are able  to easily move them for different presentations and author talks.

Check out what other NFLS libraries have purchased with their grants here.

The Four Library Marketing Myths That Need to Die RIGHT NOW!

10/11/2019

Attention Library Marketers: Here's a great blog post from Super Library Marketing that points out four (or five) marketing myths when it comes to library marketing.

Marketing is a fast-paced and ever-changing field; so what may have worked in the past may not work so well now. Here are the myths listed:
  • Myth #1: My library marketing video/blog post/article needs to be short because people will only consume “snackable content.”
    • The only exception to this myth is email.
  • Myth #2: A high open rate is the best way to tell that my library email marketing is successful.
  • Myth #3: I need to grow my Twitter/Facebook/Pinterest followers.
  • Myth #4: If you need to tell your cardholder something, just make a sign.

Wednesday, October 30, 2019 | 2–3 p.m. Central

This webinar will present examples from new case studies of libraries who are serving as active partners in addressing the opioid crisis in their communities.
Picture
As communities across the country experience the impact of the opioid epidemic, public library staff are finding themselves on the front line of this public health crisis. How should libraries engage? Public Libraries Respond to the Opioid Epidemic with Their Community is an IMLS-funded project led by OCLC and PLA to expand libraries’ capacity to support their communities. The project studied a diverse set of communities where the library is an active partner in addressing the epidemic and facilitated discussions with library leaders and a range of government, public health, and community organizations. Presenters will share insights gained from the case studies and emerging practices, opportunities, and challenges, and share resources to help library staff guide their libraries’ response to the opioid crisis.
