Allison Schoel, a Children's Programmer at Oconto Falls Community Library, recently won the Modern Woodmen Hometown Hero Award for her efforts in Children's Literacy and Education in the community.

A donation on Allison's behalf was used to buy brand new board books for the toddlers she works with and a few books highlighting Neurodivergence and Autism.

"We have found that especially in the last few years, there have been more Neurodivergent voices speaking up and providing resources for new generations," Allison says. "As an autistic woman whose symptoms were overlooked as a child, making these resources more easily accessible to the kids in our community means a lot to me. The library was always a safe place for me and I'm proud to continue providing safety and acceptance to our local library."
