![]() Nicolet Federated Library System (NFLS) and Outagamie Waupaca Library System (OWLS) libraries are sending messages that stick with custom vinyl stickers to celebrate Library Card Sign-Up Month throughout September. Library card holders new and old are encouraged to spread the excitement of getting their Wisconsin library cards by showing off these fun, custom stickers on their water bottles, phone cases, laptops, social media, and elsewhere! Each sticker also draws awareness to getyourlibrarycard.org, which explains the importance of library cards and shows people how they can get library cards within their own counties. Be on the lookout for similar promotions in libraries throughout the state, as public libraries all over Wisconsin are helping spread the word about Library Card Sign-Up Month with these one-of-a-kind, Wisconsin-themed stickers. Contact your local library to see how you can get your very own “I got my library card” stickers today! Beth Tomev, Assistant Director of the Library Services Team within the Division for Libraries & Technology, will be offering an in-person Crisis Communications Plan Workshop for NEWI libraries on Friday, October 6, 2023, focused on creating and implementing a Crisis Communications Plan for your library. She presented a similar topic briefly at the WAPL conference this spring, and after receiving requests from a number of our libraries, is developing a longer and more hands-on training with specific examples and best practices for our communities.
In-person training will be available at the Hortonville Public Library. There will be two training times, morning and afternoon, with each session geared toward a library/community size:

Virtual Option: A virtual "watch only" option will be available, though you are encouraged to attend in person to participate in hands-on learning and group discussion. The Lakes Country Public Library Board of Trustees announces that it has raised enough money to begin its Building and Expansion project. Architect Jeff Musson of Rhinelander designed the project and RJM Construction of Black Creek will be the General Contractor.
Official groundbreaking will take place on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at 1:00 pm at the Lakes Country Public Library, 15235 State Highway 32, Lakewood, Wisconsin. A reception with light refreshments will be held in the library after the ceremony. September is National Library Card Sign-Up Month and a great opportunity to remind members of our communities of the many benefits of holding a library card. Once again, OWLS and NFLS libraries will be receiving a generous supply of promotional stickers to help celebrate this time of the year. There are five new designs this year! Use this use this marketing toolkit to help you promote Library Card Sign-Up Month in your community. The marketing toolkit is filled with graphics and sample Facebook posts to help you get the word out. Each of the graphics has been set up as a customizable Canva template so that you can tailor it to your specific audience. Here are a few samples of what you will find: The stickers have just arrived at the OWLS and NFLS offices and we are busy sorting and getting these ready to send out a supply to each member library. The stickers will be mooooo-ving out to the libraries next week.

Subscribe to Newsletters from NFLS ![]() The Suring Are Public Library, with the help of a Library Improvement and Innovation Grant from the Nicolet Federated Library System, purchased wifi hotspots for its patrons to check out. The hotspots are always being checked out and patrons like that they are now able to get wifi at home. Library Director Jill Trocha said "We have patrons that will check them out every week." Subscribe to Newsletters from NFLS ![]() We would like to welcome Amy Commers as the new director at the Marinette County Consolidated Public Library Service. Amy has been a librarian for 15 years, over 10 of which were as Youth Services Librarian for South St. Paul Public Library in South St. Paul, Minnesota. After moving to northeast Wisconsin, she worked at Farnsworth Public Library and then landed at Marinette County. In addition to libraries, Amy enjoys jigsaw puzzles, adding to her TBR (to be read) pile, singing in the West Shore Chorale at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay Marinette campus, and spending time with her family. Amy has enjoyed getting to know other member library staff in the Nicolet Federated Library System during her period as Interim Director and looks forward to continuing to learn and grow from such a collaborative region. |
