Brown County Library to Offer Pickup Service at Select Locations (News & Media Release)

Library to offer pickup service: Brown County Library will offer contactless pickup service beginning Monday, April 27 at select locations

Brown County Library buildings remain closed to the public but in addition to providing patrons with access to online resources the library is committed to offering safe access to books and other library materials through a limited contactless pickup service. To provide safe pickup environments that meet the requirements of Governor Evers’ Emergency Order #28, this materials only pickup service will be offered exclusively at the Central Library, and the Ashwaubenon, Kress Family (De Pere) and Weyers-Hilliard (Howard) branches.

Library patrons will be able to schedule times to pick up library books and items that they request in advance, within various limits.
Follow these simple steps to pick up materials at participating locations:

1.  Place items on hold beginning Monday, April 27
  • Search the library’s online catalog at browncountylibrary.org or call the library to place holds on the item(s) you want.
  • There is a temporary limit of 10 holds per library card.  If you currently have more than 10 holds on your card, please call the library to speak to a staff person.
  • Hold pickup is only available at the Central, Ashwaubenon, Kress Family, and Weyers-Hilliard libraries.
  • If you had holds that were available before the library closed at a library that is not a pickup location, call the library to make arrangements.
  • You will receive a notification (by email, text message, or phone depending on your account preference) letting you know that you can call to schedule pickup.  Due to limited staff and delivery services, wait times will be longer than usual.

2.  Call the pickup library to schedule a pickup appointment
  • After you receive notification, call the pickup library to schedule a time to pick up your holds.
  • Have your library card barcode number available.

3.  Pick up your items
  • All items will be checked out and bagged ahead of time. Each bag will have your holds slip stapled to it for identification.
  • Pickups at the Central Library will take place via the pickup window just past the drive-thru book drop. Enter through the library lot and follow signage.
  • Pickups at the Ashwaubenon, Kress Family (De Pere) and Weyers-Hilliard (Howard) branches:  you will find your items on a table outside the library’s main entrance.
  • Pick up your bag and enjoy!

4.  Return your items
  • Due dates for all items have been extended to at least June 15.  Therefore, there is no need to worry about overdue fines.  Keep your checked out materials until we reopen if you like.
  • You can return your times to an outdoor book drop except Denmark at any time. Bulky items that are too large to return through book drops are not available for contactless pickup.
  • After return to a book drop, all library items will go through a multi-day quarantine before they are checked in. Only items that have been quarantined will be used to fill holds. Again, no fines will accrued during this quarantine.
  • Donations are not being accepted at this time. Use book drops for library returns only.

Remember, all Brown County Libraries are closed to the public.  Lobbies, restrooms, computers and other spaces are not accessible. For additional detailed information, browse the Contactless Pickup FAQs page on the library’s website: www.browncountylibrary.org/pickup.  If you need further assistance, please call the library to speak to a staff person.
