Oconto Falls Library at The Fair

Oconto Falls Library spent four days at the Oconto County Youth Fair. In 2019 we had a booth at the fair trying to identify photos of 52 barns in Oconto County taken in 1949. Some were identified and we continued to work on the remaining farm photos. This spring we went out to the farms and took a matching picture to the 1949 photo.  Many people stopped by remembering the project to see what we had done and others to see the changes in the farming landscape. We met past and present landowners, neighbors who grew up near the farms and young farmers looking at the past.

Our total exhibit had five banners each with the topic of Barns, Aerials, Animals, Helping Each Other,  and Families featuring photos from our vintage photo collection. This Spring we were also at the Oconto County Breakfast on the Farm with the exhibit. The response from the public was overwhelming and encouraging us to continue our work.
