Algoma Public Library purchases Launchpads with grant

The Algoma Public Library recently purchased Launchpad tablets with a recent Library Improvement and Innovation Grant from the Nicolet Federated Library System.

The library's objective to provide high quality educational materials, promote literacy, bridge the digital divide, and make educational technology accessible to young members of its community was met as these tablets provide all of these things. Library Director Cathy Kolbeck said she's "watched young children show their parents and grandparents how to use the Launchpads within the library. And I have heard how beneficial the tablets have been at home and in the school as well from the patrons who check them out."

Launchpads have been a great addition to the library's collection. Not only can patrons check them out to take home, but it also has been able to add two to its Krayon Kiosk to replace its outdated iPads. Kolbeck said that "by adding them to the Kiosk, we have seen firsthand how multiple generations interact and learn with and from each other." ​
